MONASTERY OF ST. PRODROMOS, SERRES : In the depths of a canyon, surrounded by cypresses, planes trees and pine trees, stands the Monastery of Timios Prodromos (John the Baptist). It was built in 1270 AD and despite multiple disasters it remains a monument of extraordinary beauty of Byzantine art.

MONASTERY OF ST. PRODROMOS, AKRITOHORI : The Retreat of Timios Prodromos (John the Baptist) Monastery in Akritohori, Sinitiki, was built in 1981. It hosts 40 nuns. From here, the visitor may admire a breathtaking view, as the Kerkini Lake unfolds in all its magnificence.
